Hi there. We are a small funded start up in Union Square with some Big Customers doing Cool Things. We can tell you more about it when you come in to an interview.
The job saddles the gray area between development and operations. This is part development and programming (mostly related to system-like things, but may extend into the web application) and part operational (monitoring, metric, automation, logging, configuration etc).
Requirements:
* Know Bash
* Know PHP -or- Python. Ruby might be ok too. Sorry perl hackers.
* Know Linux -- we use Ubuntu server, but red-hat variants ok!
* Know Apache
* Know MySQL -- You have to know some SQL (nothing too exotic) and the basics of MySQL configuration.
Bonus Points:
* Startup experience or having set up your websites soup-to-nuts. Have you set up something on Amazon or Rackspace clouds? Great!
* We are using Nagios and Puppet (
http://reductivelabs.com/products/puppet/
). If you haven`t used them before, well this will be a great introduction!
* Experience with rrdtool, Munin, Cacti, gmond, Ganglia, Graphite (
http://graphite.wikidot.com/
) would be swell. Right now we are not using any of them, but likely will do so soon.
* Security experience nice (IDS, bastion hosts, OSSIM, etc), but we`ll probably contract out experts to help here.
